5 Things To Do In Las Vegas Outside The Casinos

Summer is here and millions of people, including families, are flocking to Vegas for a vacation. KTNV points out that tourism has increased by 70% in recent months without any signs of slowing down.

With so many things to do, who doesn’t get excited at the thought of visiting Vegas? When people think of Vegas, the usual resorts, pools, and upscale restaurants are probably what comes to mind. While they are the common tourist destinations around Vegas, there are actually some amazing things to do outside of the casinos. If you’re ready to find out what they are, let’s walk you through some of them…

1. Fremont Street Experience

The Fremont Street Experience is actually referred to by locals as the “Old Strip” and it has many wonderful attractions. It’s basically a little neighborhood with a variety of little shops, causal restaurants and musical performances that people can enjoy while walking around. At night, people flock to the Fremont Street Experience to enjoy live music as well as the signature Viva Vision show that is played on a gigantic LED screen.

2. Ride a Roller Coaster

For those that enjoy big thrills, there is no need to go to Universal Studios for rides if you are in Vegas because there are roller coasters spread out through the city. The Fremont Street Experience offers two types of ziplines: Zip-Zilla Zipline or the Superhero-Zoom for people who want to fly like Superman. If you want to see the best view of Las Vegas from a birds-eye view, then jump onto the Big Shot rockets which are launched from the very top of the STRAT Hotel. You’ll see Vegas from 1,049 feet above the ground, but soon after you’ll end up in a free-fall, so be prepared!

3. Red Rock Canyon

Visiting Red Rock Canyon is one of the most exciting things to do in Las Vegas that both locals and tourists enjoy. It is a beautiful outdoor destination that is located towards the westside of Las Vegas. People can hike, walk trails and, for those that want to relax, there is a one-way 13-mile scenic drive you could pass through with your car. The area is filled with amazing animals like the desert bighorn sheep, numerous bird species, and sensitive reptiles such as Gila monster and desert tortoise. The natural wildlife and stunning canyons in Southern Nevada make for a great outdoor adventure as well as for magnificent photo opportunities.

4. Discount Designer Shopping

Las Vegas is known for amazing shopping centers, but were you aware of the huge discount outlet stores located a few miles north of the Strip? The Las Vegas North Premium Outlets is a 540,000-square-foot shopping mall that has luxury bands like Armani, Burberry, and Dolce & Gabbana at discounted prices. If you are shopping for the kids, stores like OshKoshB’gosh, Levis, and Nike are also available.

5. Wet’n’Wild

Since it’s summer, what could be more fun than taking the kids to a waterpark? Wet’n’Wild is located 15 minutes west of the Strip and is a family friendly place that offers giant water slides, pools, and places to relax and soak up the sun. The waterpark has more than 25 rides and attractions to choose from which makes it a great place for people of all ages to enjoy.

Everyone knows about the things to do in casinos, but not everyone knows about Vegas beyond the walls of the casinos. Take your family to Vegas and show them these attractions for a new kind of adventure.
